Main task of the course is to translate Old Norse text and adjust the translations for publication. Course cover all the stages of the process of translation and publication:
Choosing the texts for translation Evaluation and selection of editions, commentaries and other tools Translation with help of the above-mentioned tools Preparing notes, footnotes, and indexes Proofreading and preparation for print etc. The course presupposes good knowledge of Old Norse. Ability to read and use translations and commentaries in their languages (English, German, modern Scandinavian languages) is another prerequisite for the course. Ability to work independently is required as well as the ability to collaborate with other members of the team. The complete translations were published with an introductory study in a volume printed a year later: STARÝ, Jiří – KRÁLOVÁ MAGDA –VAVERKA. ONDŘEJ - KORECKÁ, Lucie - HALOUNOVÁ, Lada – KRÁLOVÁ, KRISTÝNA – ŠIMEČEK, DAVID – KADEČKOVÁ, HELENA – DUDKOVÁ,VERONIKA – GOROŇOVÁ, MARIANNA. "A tehdy pronesl strofu…" Staroseverské příběhy o skaldech. Praha: FF UK, 2019 The course might be in reduced form (without publication) taught in English according to the decision of the guarantee. Last update: Pastyříková Iveta, Mgr. (21.11.2023)
