Annotation -
The course is designed for students with at least A2 level knowledge of Polish who want to get acquainted with contemporary colloquial language used in typical student situations. Half of the course will be taught online in small groups (up to 5 people), in the form of workshops led by Warsaw University students. The other half of the course will take place during a several-day trip to Warsaw (for Czech students) or in the form of small independent projects (for students from foreign universities). The language of instruction will be Polish (optionally English). For foreign students who need an exam, an additional test will be prepared.
Classes will start in mid-October (17 & 18 October 2024).

  • social media (charakterystyczne skróty, aktualne trendy i elementy języka młodzieżowego);
  • życie codzienne (rozmowy codzienne);
  • praca, pieniądze (elementy języka korporacyjnego, potoczne określenia pieniędzy);
  • emocje oraz wyrażanie swoich opinii (szczególnie silne emocje, słownictwo ekspresywne, sposoby wyrażania swoich emocji w codziennych rozmowach);
  • cytaty filmowe, które przeszły do języka potocznego (najnowsze);
  • spotkania towarzyskie;
  • uniwersytet i życie studenckie (słownictwo związane ze studiowaniem, typowe problemy studentów);

English:

  • social media (characteristic abbreviations, current trends and elements of youth language);
  • everyday life (everyday conversations);
  • work, money (elements of corporate language, colloquial expressions of money);
  • emotions and expressing one's opinions (particularly strong emotions, expressive vocabulary, ways of expressing one's emotions in everyday conversations);
  • film quotes that have passed into colloquial language (most recent);
  • social encounters;
  • University and student life (vocabulary related to studying, typical student problems);
