The course offers an introduction to the use of artificial intelligence in social services and psychology. Students will become familiar with the basic principles of AI, gain hands-on experience with selected tools, and learn to critically reflect on their possibilities and risks. Emphasis is placed on linking theory with practice, reflecting on ethical and legal issues, and examining examples from both the Czech Republic and abroad. The course is interactive, focusing on practical demonstrations and discussion.

The course will cover the following thematic areas:

Introduction to AI in Social Services – basic principles, possibilities, and limitations of use.

Ethics, Responsibility, and Fairness – ethical questions, data protection, and algorithmic bias.

Legal and Institutional Frameworks – regulations in the Czech Republic, the EU, and the international context.

Practical Applications of AI – tool demonstrations, decision-making processes, and examples of good practice.

The Human Factor and the Future of AI – the risk of “dehumanizing care,” critical reflection, and future challenges.
