Annotation -
The course introduces the principles of synchronic comparative phonetics. It deals with universals and specifics in
production, acoustics, and perception of speech, specifically in sound patterning (on phonemic and prosodic levels). It
includes the methods of work with multi-lingual corpora. Group is part of the seminar.

Introduction into universals and typologies
Glottogony and linguistic anthropology
Universals and variation in vocalic and consonantal systems
The syllable as a universally valid unit
Typology of stress
Rhythm and intonation
Methodology of cross-linguistic comparison
