This course will look at some philosophical issues about a person's identity and character, and more broadly about the nature of a person's self. What are the differences between these three concepts? How are identity, character and the self formed? How are they altered? How much control does a person have over them? What does it mean to be proud of oneself, or ashamed of oneself? What happens when I identify with a person, a group, an ideal, a goal? What does it mean to live a life?
