The aim of the seminar is to revisit the basic texts of the first waves of feminism that are still little known in the Czech context. We will focus on the texts whose radical features are forgotten as they recede into the past and are replaced by new thematizations of often the same, albeit differently named, problems (the main example will be Simone de Beauvoir’s The Second Sex). Overall, we will inquire into how feminist approaches transform traditional philosophical themes, whether it is the polarity of nature and culture, the nature of power, the notion of autonomy, or the notion of false consciousness.

Cílem semináře je připomenout základní, v našem prostředí však stále málo známé texty, sahající od počátků feminismu do rané fáze tzv. třetí vlny. Toto připomenutí je potřebné i proto, že radikální rysy těchto textů se automaticky stírají tím, jak ustupují do minulosti a jsou nahrazovány novou tematizací často stejných, byť odlišně pojmenovaných problémů (hlavním příkladem bude Druhé pohlaví Simone de Beauvoir). Seminář se zaměří na to, jak feministické přístupy proměňují tradiční filozofická témata, ať už jde o polaritu přírody a kultury, povahu moci, pojetí autonomie či pojem falešného vědomí. Důležité upozornění: z časových důvodů necháme stranou průnik některých feministických textů s psychoanalýzou. Intersectionality, jež by vyžadovala samostatné zkoumání, se dotkneme jen v souvislosti s její anticipací v „první vlně“ feminismu. Seminář proto nevyžaduje předběžnou znalost existujících teorií (pomyslné a často lehce matoucí dělení na první, druhou, třetí a snad i čtvrtou a/nebo pátou vlnu feminismu vysvětlíme v úvodním semináři).

Pravidelná účast v semináři a prezentace vybraného textu (referát). Podmínky pro zakončení kurzu upřesníme v prvním semináři s ohledem na počet zapsaných. Upozornění: kurz nelze plnit formou písemné práce bez pravidelné účasti.
