Annotation

Cílem kurzu je kriticky číst vybrané pasáže Lévinasovy stěžejní knihy Totalita a nekonečno a konfrontovat je jednak s tezemi Martina Heideggera, především z Bytí a času, jednak reflektovat jejich „židovskou“ inspiraci. Pasáže budou použity z českého překladu J. Sokola a M. Petříčka, Praha: Oikoymenh 1997. Znalost francouzštiny a/nebo němčiny je výhodou, nikoli podmínkou pro zápis do kurzu.

In this course, we will read and comment some selected chapters of Emmanuel Lévinas main work Totality and Infinity in contrast with Heidegger´s theses as presented in Sein und Zeit. The „Jewish“ inspiration of Lévinas´ philosophy will be reflected as well. The reading is based on the Czech translation: Totalita a nekonečno, J. Sokol, M. Petříček (trs.), Praha: Oikoymenh 1997. The knowledge of French and/or German language is considered to be an advantage for orientation in the text not a requisite for enrolling.
