Annotation -
Reading a philosophical text is always an act of interpretation. But the question is, what must interpretation take into account? A philosophical text is specific, but that does not mean that we can ignore what belongs to every text: its context (both historical and current) and its linguistic form. If there is such a thing as a specific style of a particular author, what is its relationship to what the author wants to convey? This is just a small list of questions that belong to the reading of philosophical texts. Together, we will try to answer them and look for other, equally important ways of questioning that can be addressed to a philosophical text.

The starting point will be selected passages from Jacques Derrida's lecture Le Monolinguisme de l'Autre, which was published in expanded form by Éd. Galilée in 1966, and its English version Monolingualism of the Other, translated by Patric Mensah, Stanford University Press 1998.
