Annotation -
The course is intended for non-native speakers of Czech (minimum B1-level) who are interested in improving and stabilizing their pronunciation of Czech as a foreign language, both at the segmental and prosody levels. In addition to training one's own production, the perception of sound phenomena is also practiced. The individual approach and needs of single participants are emphasized. For this reason, the maximum capacity of the course is limited.

During the course, students continuously make short audio recordings. These are work recordings for practicing production, screening individual pronunciation difficulties and course work for the exam.

The online application ProCzeFor (Pronunciation of Czech for Foreigners. Výslovnost češtiny pro cizince) will be used in the course. https://www.proczefor.cz/. The application will be available to participants for free during the course. Access instructions will be given at the beginning of the course.
The course will take place online on the MS Teams platform. The link will be sent to registered participants before the course.

Aim of the course -

In the theoretical part, the student systematizes basic knowledge about the sound level of the Czech language.

The aim of the practical part is to improve students' speaking competence with an emphasis on practicing pronunciation both at the segmental and suprasegmental levels. An integral part is practicing the perception of sound phenomena.

The student will receive a) initial individual feedback on his pronunciation in Czech and sound phenomena that cause him difficulties and may reduce the intelligibility or acceptability of his speech in Czech, and b) at the end of the course, final feedback and recommendations for follow-up exercises and speaking practice.

The tasks will mainly be exercises from the pronunciation application ProCzeFor, which includes listening and articulation exercises as well as test exercises. Tasks may include making a recording.

b) Submission of a course work: making recording of the read speech and its analysis. The assignment will be given in the last third of the course.
