Annotation -
The course is primarily intended for foreign students who come to the Faculty of Arts CU for their one-semester/two-semester internship and who have been placed in level 3, 4, 5 based on the placement test. Students of other levels and domestic students from the FA or other faculties can enroll in only in case of free capacity and after prior consultation with the teacher. (The decision on free capacity usually comes before the end of the period for registering subjects in SiS.)

Main thematic areas:
1. practice of time proportions of sound segments (especially vowels) and syllables when implemented in the text; word stress
2. practice of difficult sounds and sound combinations (according to the individual needs of the students)
3. special orthoepic phenomena (e.g. assimilation, palatalization... (according to the individual needs of students)
4. realization of continuous speech with an emphasis on melodic and temporal characteristics

In the students' own pronunciation, attention will be focused on phenomena that have long caused difficulties for non-native speakers of Czech and whose incorrect pronunciation can make communication difficult and reduce intelligibility.

During the semester, audio recordings of speeches of various types are continuously made, which are used for production practice, screening of individual difficulties and preparation of seminar work. The course also includes perception tests, short presentations and speeches.
