Annotation:
The seminar is based on a careful reading of selected poetic and prose texts of the Czech interwar avant-garde, whose aesthetics and poetics will be confronted with them in the background and in connection with key interpretative methodologies and the ground plan of relevant theoretical literature. The aim of the seminar is to provide practical exercises in the interpretation and interpretation of texts based on specific applications of theoretical approaches and models. The seminar attendant should acquire basic interpretative bases and procedures, ie not only paraphrase the text in its interpretation, but also be able to interpret it using professional terminology, explain its construction, use of figures, modeling of characters, motifs, narratives, current theories and concepts, but also in connection with contemporary aesthetics, the construction of text with respect to its levels of meaning. Of course there should be a comparative approach and emphasis on intertextual reading of selected texts and their passages.

Completion of the course is conditioned by the elaboration of a seminar work of an interpretive nature, in which the student demonstrates his interpretive abilities, ability to use literary-scientific approaches, orient himself in literary-theoretical terms and concepts (and work with them) and his orientation in the art of the Czech interwar avant-garde. After consultation with the teacher, the student chooses one of the titles of primary literature for the seminar work. The work must have a range of min. 5 pages and must contain all the necessary details of a professional text (citations, references, secondary sources, list of studied literature, etc.). The work must be written in Word format, font size 12, line spacing 1.5. The thesis must be submitted no later than 14 days before the end of the academic year. This end of the course also applies to the variant of distance learning.

Standard teaching will take place in person, when students will be acquainted with the subject matter (individual thematic areas) in the form of lectures or seminars. The explanation will be supplemented by the use of primary and secondary literature, scanned texts (students will receive the necessary printed texts so that they can work with them during the lesson) and illustrative power-point presentations. In the case of distance learning, lectures and seminars will be replaced by online teaching (teaching in the zoom program). Students will also be sent the necessary study materials and materials (lectures and seminars in power point, scanned texts, etc.). Versions of the subjects in the moodle program will also be used.
