The course consists of lectures delivered in English and Czech seminars. Overall, it focuses on the history of linguistics and development of various linguistic approaches since the second half of 20th century up to now, i. e. from structuralism to current integrative socio-cognitive approaches. Every week, a 20-minute English lecture introducing one perspective is followed by a 70-minute Czech seminar dedicated to the discussion of an English text related to the topic of the week.
