The course is intended to introduce the methodology of palaeography as an independent discipline, to familiarize the students with the development of Latin script from its origin in the 6th century BC to 1500, with the characteristics of the types used throughout its development, and to familiarize them with the literature and palaeographic editions. The practical part involves practicing safe orientation in the types of older scripts and their recognition and chronology, as well as practical knowledge of reading common scripts of the period 800-1500.

Středověká paleografie I
Předmět posluchačům přibližuje metodiku paleografie jako samostatné vědnídisciplíny, seznámí je s vývojem latinského písma od jeho vzniku v cca 5.st.př.n.l. po rok 1500, s charakteristikou jednotlivých v celém vývoji používaných typů, s literaturou a paleografickými edicemi nutnými pro paleografické srovnávání. V praktické části jde o nácvik bezpečné orientace v typech starších písem (do r.800) a jejich rozeznání a časové zařazení, a dále o praktickou znalost čtení běžných písem období let 800-1500.
