The practicum takes place in secondary schools. Only exceptionally, in well justified situations and with the express approval of the practicum guarantor can the practicum take place at elementary schools.<br>

Credit requirements


– attending the initial seminar (or individual consultation with the guarantor) before the start of teh practicum;

– attending 2-3 observations in each group, where the teaching will be happening and completing observation protocols for each of the lessons;

– independent teaching of 18 school hours under the supervision of the faculty teacher – the student must prepare a lesson plan for each lesson and this is subsequently annotated;

– active participation in the post-teaching analyses under the supervision of the faculty teacher;

– keeping a practicum journal (* see below);

– performing 3 observations at the same school but with different teachers(also in different subjects) (** see below);

– ensuring the guarantor can carry out an observation (i.e. need to notify of timetable, school address and other essential details);

– attending a final analysis with the guarantor prior to which the student submits all relevant paperwork includng a report from the facuty teacher, lesson plans and practicum journal

– inserting all of the documents in the student's teaching portfolio.

 

* Practicum journal

– the student records student lesson plans, subsequent notes upon their realization and reflection;

– the student includes a narrative reflection upn the whole practicum experience;

– the journal can have any form the student wants to give it but it must be self-reflective and contain self-evaluation.

 

** Observing other teachers

– for each of these observations an observation protocol is to be filled in - this must contain evaluation and analysis focusing on the following points: What was the aim of the lesson? What worked and what did not? What problems arose? How were they dealt with? How well did the students cooperate?
