Annotation -
The aim of the course is to familiarize future teachers of English with the topic of highly advanced students in the Czech school system. The increasing numbers of highly advanced students place demands on the teacher to identify and effectively instruct these students on a sustained basis. This requires the acquisition of methods of identification, diagnosis of gaps in the knowledge of the advanced, setting and meeting goals, and appropriate adaptation of materials and instruction in the heterogeneous classroom. The course is conducted in a seminar format to provide participants with the opportunity to apply the information presented and reflect on their own practice.
