The aim of the seminar is to acquaint students with basic information about special educational needs (SEN), its causes, and current forms of supporting students with SEN in English-language lessons. The seminar will also define current approaches to educating students with SEN at an elementary, but mainly at a secondary school, along with possible options of developing students’ skills.
The seminar will introduce re-education methods and ways of compensating those special needs in English-language lessons (using various tools). In connection, main emphasis will be put on material adaptation. In the seminar, students will gain fundamental knowledge of SEN terminology, current methods applied in English lessons, and appropriate approaches and methods of re-educating students with SEN.
The course is designed as a training for practical inclusion of adapted materials as an answer to an often-neglected area of teaching English as a second language.
