We deal with selected concepts and ideas of cybernetics, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and related disciplines. Emphasized are themes that may contribute to the mind-body problem and to the problem of consciousness and rationality. Included are also some controversial themes and most recent research directions that are subject to contemporary debates. Students are expected to participate in an active way and to write a term essay on a chosen theme relevant to the course.
In addition to the literature recommended during the course we will refer to the following texts: I.M.Havel: "Přirozené a umělé myšlení jako filosofický problém" In: Umělá inteligence III. (V. Mařík a kol., editoři), Academia, Praha 2001, s. 17-75.
