| This course focuses on key environmental topics related to nature conservation and restoration in the context of the Green Deal and sustainable development. Participants will be introduced to current development concepts, such as the European Green Deal, and its implications for contemporary biodiversity conservation challenges, as well as the tools used in modern nature protection. The „Innovations in Nature Conservation“ course offers a broad perspective, covering topics from global biodiversity conservation challenges to their understanding as part of applied ecology. It also facilitates the sharing of concrete experiences in ecosystem conservation and restoration in the Czech Republic, including the use of legislative and practical tools for biodiversity conservation. | |||||||||
| The course is conducted over two semesters in the form of lectures and excursions. Its goal is to familiarize participants with the fundamental concepts of sustainable development and the Green Deal in the context of nature and landscape conservation. The course develops knowledge and skills in the following areas: ● Sustainable development and the Green Deal ● Nature protection and restoration ● Biodiversity threats in the context of global change |

| Graduates of bachelor's and master's degree programs in natural sciences and related fields who are working or intending to work in public administration, local government, and organizations focused on nature and landscape conservation. | |||||||||
| ● Students discuss the significance of the Green Deal, including specific measures such as the Nature Restoration Regulation, in addressing current biodiversity conservation challenges. ● Students understand the role of nature and landscape conservation in the context of applied ecological sciences. ● Students identify the most significant factors threatening biodiversity, both on a global scale and at the regional level in the Czech Republic. ● Students evaluate the effectiveness of tools used in modern nature conservation and the limitations posed by global changes to current conservation practices. ● Students gain practical experience in the conservation and restoration of various ecosystem types and their associated biodiversity. |
