DAY 1
900-1100 Introduction to Unbiased Stereology
1100-1130 Morning Question & Answer, informal discussion
1130 to 1300 Lunch Break
1300-1600 Discussion and hands-on exercises for the most common stereology probes, parameters and study designs; review of tissue preparation and histology consideration; techniques for optimize for maximum efficiency; variation analysis, “how many animals, how many sections?”; peer-review issues; presentation of examples from Mouton Stereology Lab and Plzen research.
1600-1630 Question & Answer, one-on-one sessions with instructor.
DAY 2

0900-1100 Introduction To Computerized Stereology: Hardware components; program overview, pilot studies, efficient data collection; and, Maintenance & Troubleshooting.
1100-1130 Informal Discussion, Q & A
1130-1300 Lunch Break

1300-1600 Hands-On Stereologer Operation: Lens Calibration, pilot studies and data collection for total number and volume density ((Total N, Nv), mean object volume (Rotator method), total object length and length density (Total L, Lv). Image capture and automatic analysis using FAST Stereology to quantify total number of immunostained neurons (NeuN).
1600-1630: Question & Answer Session, one-on-one sessions with instructor.
