| This two-semester programme (30 hours) introduces students to major 20th-century philosophical movements—positivism, phenomenology, and postmodernism—and examines how they reshaped notions of truth, experience, language, and rationality. Positivism is approached through its emphasis on scientific explanation and criteria of verification; phenomenology through analyses of lived experience, intentionality, and the constitution of meaning; and postmodernism through its critique of grand narratives and its attention to plural frameworks of understanding. Against this background, the course develops core contemporary issues in ontology, epistemology, and ethics: what it means to be “real,” the possibilities and limits of knowledge, and how norms can be justified under conditions of value and cultural diversity. Special attention is given to the place of science and philosophy today: the difference between explanation and understanding, the role of interpretation, the social responsibility of knowledge, and critical thinking as a key component of both university education and broader cultural literacy. A specific focus is philosophy of education: education as human formation, and “care of the soul” as a practice of cultivating meaning and orientation in life. | The student will be able to understand the conditions of our present situation using the deepened ontological perspective. It is precisely the understanding of preconditions that is missing in the present educational system, oriented rather on providing the human resources to the labour market. | |

| Every semester will consist of 15 hours of lecturing. The main philosophical schools of the 20th century: positivism, phenomenology, postmodernism. Ontology, gnoseology and ethics of the present. The position of science and philosophy today. Philosophy of education. Care for the soul as the meaning of life. Philosophy of body and corporeality. Health and disease. Life and death. The problem of the whole in thinking and cognition. (1-2 lectures will be devoted to each topic) |
