Guidelines
Bakalářská práce pojednává o bohu Sutechovi, jednom z ústředních božstev staroegyptského panteonu. Klade si za cíl taxonomicky zhodnotit Sutechovu emblematickou zvířecí identitu, jež přes mnoho návrhů stále není spolehlivě objasněna. Identifikace tzv. Sutechova zvířete se bude opírat zejména o syntézu tří hlavních bodů: posouzení ikonografických dokladů, kritického zhodnocení dosavadních hypotéz a porovnání vzorců chování živočišných druhů s povahovými rysy samotného Sutecha. Na základě tohoto postupu se autorka bude snažit co nejpřesněji identifikovat zvíře, které bylo předobrazem pro podobu boha Sutecha.
This BA thesis deals with the god Seth, one of the most prominent deities in the ancient Egyptian pantheon. It aims to taxonomically evaluate the faunal identity of Seth, for despite many suggestions, his emblematic animal has not yet been convincingly determined. The identification of the so-called „Seth animal“ will be primarily based on the synthesis of three main elements: extant iconopraghical evidence, critically assessed hypotheses suggested so far and comparison of the behavioral patterns of the animals mentioned with the character traits of Seth. On the basis of this approach the author will thus attempt to propose the animal on which the form of the god Seth has been modelled.
