| Novela Ladislava Klímy Utrpení knížete Sternenhocha sdílí s Briefromanem J. W. Goetha nejen strukturu a narativní strategii, ale i některé podstatné motivy. Přítomnost vytoužené osoby je suplementována psaním, ať už dopisů nebo deníku, a její tělo je nahrazeno simulakrem. Zatímco Goethe smutek a touhu estetizuje v návaznosti na sentimentální tradici epistolárního románu, Klíma je ve svém palimpsestu transformuje směrem ke grotesce a s využitím excesivní tělesnosti paroduje. V obou případech ovšem (fiktivní) psaní milujících, práce, ale i vynalézání paměti, slouží jako doklad, konstruované fantasma jejich lásky, které jediné přežije smrt svého autora a dochová svědectví o citu pro ostatní. |
