| Bakalářská práce prozkoumá užití adjektiv popisujících barvy a zaměří se především na možnosti jejich stupňování. Cílem této kontrastivní studie je zjistit, jestli lze popsat rozdíly mezi britskou a americkou angličtinou v možnosti stupňovat tato adjektiva a také případně ve způsobu stupňování (syntetickém nebo analytickém). Kromě porovnání dvou základních variet angličtiny prozkoumá práce i případné rozdíly v užití mezi registry v rámci jedné variety. Analýza bude založena na datech z korpusů BNC a COCA. Autorka vybere 4-6 základních barev a jejich užití v komparativu či superlativu analyzuje kvantitativně. Následně sestaví náhodný vzorek 100 příkladů zkoumaného jevu z každé variety a na základě jejich porovnání se pokusí najít odpověď na výzkumné otázky.
