| Diplomová práce se zabývá událostmi během Velkého indického povstání v letech 1857-58 a jejím cílem je rozkrýt příčiny, které ke vzniku povstání přispěly. Přibližuje historický vývoj na indickém subkontinentu a zaměřuje se na roli Anglie a později Velké Británie v dějinách indických států. Pozornost je věnována Východoindické společnosti jako nositelce hospodářského a politického dění. Zároveň je zde poukázáno na tvrdě se prosazující snahy této korporace o ovládnutí co největšího počtu nových území a na metody k tomu používané. Samotné povstání je analyzováno pomocí různých pohledů jeho účastníků. Jsou zdůrazněny hlavní události, které ovlivnily jeho průběh. |
