| Cílem této diplomové práce bude zmapovat a zhodnotit aktivity rodiny Ashburnhamů v dobách anglické občanské války na základě zkoumání vydaných i nevydaných archivních pramenů a studia odborné literatury. Důraz bude kladen na vztahy členů rodiny s panovnickým dvorem, a to především na vztah Johna Ashburnhama s Karlem I. Práce se bude snažit vystihnout, jakým způsobem se Ashburnhamové podíleli na útěku uvězněného krále z Hampton Court, jejich finanční a životní situaci v průběhu občanské války a jaké měla podpora Karla I. krátkodobé i dlouhodobé důsledky na jejich rodinu. Přestože budou aktivity Ashburnhamů sledovány zejména v dobách a na pozadí občanské války, v diplomové práci bude zahrnuto také období předcházející samotnému konfliktu pro zasazení do dějinného kontextu. Nakonec bude vyhodnoceno poválečné vyrovnání se Karla II. s rodinou Ashburnhamů a dopady občanské války na jejich rod. |
