| Úkolem řešitelky je nabídnout komplexní interpretaci jedné z klíčových postav Lucanova eposu Bellum civile, C. Iulia Caesara. Výrazným rysem postavy je nadlidská destruktivní síla, podle Johnsona (1987) dokonce jistá monstrozita, kterou se bude řešitelka snažit osvětlit důkladnou jazykovou i literární analýzou motivů a témat, jež jsou v eposu s Caesarem asociovány. Řešitelka se také pokusí usouvztažnit některé vzájemně si odporující pasáže, které byly donedávna považovány za překážku jednotné interpretace eposu; jak ale ukazuje průlomová studie O´Hary (2006), právě ve zdánlivých a leckdy uměle vytvořených, záměrných nekonzistencích, se u římských epiků mnohdy ukrývá klíč k porozumění celku. |
