Guidelines

Práce se zaměří na dosud nepopsaný typ částečné (syntaktické) konverze adjektiv v substantiva, který dokládají následující příklady:
(1) angry is good, angry gets shit done (the TV series American Gods)
(2) I like normal (The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas)
(3) What the hell is wrong with being weird? Weird is cool. (Twitter)
Teoretická část práce představí teoretický rámec konstrukční gramatiky, ze kterého bude práce vycházet, a problematiku konverze, především pak částečné konverze adjektiv v substantiva. Teoretická část také poukáže na různé možnosti analýzy struktur typu the rich a the obvious (tj. částečná konverze vs. elipsa) a na to, jak je možné tyto struktury popisovat v konstrukční gramatice.
Praktická část práce bude založena na korpusu Spoken BNC2014 a na anglickém komponentu paralelního korpusu InterCorp. Relevantní doklady budou vyhledávány pomocí korpusových dotazů, které budou založeny na neobvyklosti adjektiv v některých pozicích (např. začátek věty – adjektivum – finitní sloveso). Analýza bude vycházet přinejmenším ze sta dokladů sledované konstrukce. Vzhledem k relativní novosti a potenciální hovorovosti popisované konstrukce je možné, že v korpusech nebude možné dohledat dostatečný počet dokladů; v takovém případě budou excerpovány také doklady ze současné beletrie nebo ze sociální sítě Twitter.
Analytická část práce se v duchu konstrukční gramatiky zaměří na komplexní popis konstrukce (případně jejích typů) s ohledem na formální, sémantické a referenční rysy, ale také na pragmatické a kontextové aspekty užití konstrukce. Sledována budou i omezení na užití dané konstrukce, např. sémantická omezení na adjektivum, které může do konstrukce vstoupit, sémantická omezení na konstrukce, do nichž může vstoupit sledovaná konstrukce, či kontextová omezení pro užití konstrukce.

Práce bude vypracována v anglickém jazyce.
