Guidelines

Předmětem bakalářské práce je konkrétní anglická konstrukce (ve smyslu konstrukční gramatiky), jejíž forma se prototypicky skládá ze zájmena it, tvaru slovesa to be, volné pozice (neobsazené číslovkou) a výrazu o’clock, např. it’s wine o’clock again. Práce zmapuje vývoj této konstrukce a otestuje hypotézu o souvislosti mezi typovou frekvencí konstrukce a její produktivitou a variabilitou obsazení volné pozice konstrukce, která vychází z predikcí tzv. usage-based konstrukční gramatiky.
Teoretická část práce představí teoretický rámec tzv. usage-based konstrukční gramatiky a pojem konstrukce, dále pak jevy zásadní pro praktickou část, např. typovou a tokenovou frekvenci a frekvenční efekty, dále tzv. entrenchment, tzv. statistical preemption a produktivitu konstrukcí. Bude zde též nastíněna historie výrazu o’clock, jak ji lze rekonstruovat na základě anglických slovníků, a případně též úloha, kterou při šíření konstrukce může sehrát jazyk sociálních sítí.
Praktická část práce bude vycházet z analýzy dat získaných ze čtyř korpusů (BNC a Spoken BNC2014 pro britskou angličtinu a COHA a COCA pro americkou angličtinu) a ze sociální sítě Twitter (vzorek 250 dokladů). Analýza bude primárně kvantitativní a jejím hlavním cílem bude ilustrovat (v souvislosti s výše zmíněnou hypotézou) postupný nárůst produktivity a typové frekvence sledované konstrukce a narůstající variabilitu obsazení volné pozice konstrukce. Cílem práce bude též vysvětlit souvislosti mezi těmito faktory v širším kontextu (např. i s ohledem na paradigmatické vztahy sledované konstrukce k jiným konstrukcím).

Práce bude vypracována v anglickém jazyce.
