| Diplomová práce se zabývá postavou amerického generála Williama Tecumseha Shermana a jeho činnost za americké občanské války v moderní historiografii. Zkoumá především hodnocení jeho vojenské kampaně v Georgii, v Severní a Jižní Karolíně v letech 1864–1865. Klade se důraz na odlišné vnímání generála Shermana jednotlivými americkými historiky. Cílem by mělo být zhodnotit vývoj jejich pohledu, popřípadě odhalit jejich tendenčnost a subjektivitu. Práce se snaží objektivně a neutrálně shrnout význam a důsledky generálova působení za války. |
