| Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na vikinské osídlení Britských ostrovů, od jeho počátků v padesátých letech devátého století, kdy severští nájezdníci poprvé přezimovali na tomto území, až po vládu Knuta Velikého, kterým toto období skončilo. Jejím cílem je na jednotlivých územních celcích Britských ostrovů (Anglie, Irsko atd.) porovnat záznamy, které o tomto jevu poskytují prameny, s archeologickými a dalšími pozůstatky a zjistit, nakolik se doplňují nebo si odporují a pokusit o racionální a historické metodě konformní vysvětlení případných diferencí. |
