Guidelines

Nedávné studie z oblasti genderové lingvistiky (např. Baker, 2010) poukazují na přetrvávající tendence k jazykovému androcentrismu v angličtině. Tato diplomová práce se bude zabývat genderovou reprezentací v korpusu současné britské mluvené angličtiny. Teoretická část práce vymezí přístupy ke zkoumání jazyka z hlediska genderu, přičemž se zaměří na problematiku androcentrismu a sexismu. Dále popíše prostředky vyjadřování rodu životných substantiv v angličtině s ohledem na to, jak jejich užívání může přispívat k rekonstrukci genderových diskurzů. Praktická část bude zkoumat zastoupení vybraných genderově příznakových a genderově neutrálních výrazů, které by dle klasifikace Van Leeuwena (1996) spadaly do kategorie funkcionalizace, tj. označování osob na základě jejich činností (role či povolání). K analýze budou použita data z mluveného korpusu BNC2014, která budou posléze porovnána s daty z mluvené části korpusu BNC z 90. let. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda po uplynutí dvou dekád došlo v mluvené angličtině k posunu směrem k vyváženějšímu zastoupení genderových kategorií.
Práce bude vypracována v anglickém jazyce.
