Guidelines

Diplomová práce bude věnována tématu odstoupení mexických území v r. 1848 ve prospěch USA na základě smlouvy z Guadalupe Hidalgo a dopadu této události na život původního obyvatelstva dané oblasti během druhé poloviny 19. a na počátku 20. století. Zaměří se především na oblast každodenního života původních etnik před a po odstoupení a na vztahy s majoritní (bílou) populací. V první části práce diplomant stručně představí region (tzv. americký Jihozápad), historický kontext popisovaných událostí (dědictví španělské kolonizace, okolnosti odstoupení území USA) a konkrétní etnika. V dalších kapitolách bude sledovat, jak byla změna politického režimu jednotlivými etniky reflektována a nakolik podstatný byl její vliv na další vývoj jejich materiální a duchovní kultury, a to zejména na srovnání usedlých a nomádských či polonomádských společností. Pozornost bude věnována i způsobům a metodám, jimiž se snažila americká vláda zejména v posledních desetiletích 19. století začlenit domorodé obyvatelstvo do většinové společnosti a z toho vyplývající interakci obou stran. Výzkumnou metodou bude pramenná analýza, jež se soustředí na rozbor misijních, ale i vojenských a dalších etnografických zdrojů.
