Abstrakt
Tématem této bakalářské práce je problematika překladu krátkých próz spisovatelky Angely Carterové do českého jazyka včetně vlastního překladu dvou vybraných povídek, „The Executioner's Beautiful Daughter“ a „The Smile of Winter“ ze sbírky Fireworks: Nine Profane Pieces. Práce bude rozdělena do tří částí. První část se bude zabývat důkladným jazykovým rozborem výchozích textů z hlediska lexikálního, syntaktického a stylistického a nastíněním možných specifických problémů, které bude třeba při překladu řešit. Druhou část práce bude tvořit obdobná analýza povídek A. Carterové, které již byly do českého jazyka přeloženy. Půjde o vybrané texty ze dvou povídkových sbírek – Krvavá komnata (v překladu Dany Hábové) a Černá Venuše (v překladu Kateřiny Hilské). Třetí část bude obsahovat můj překlad zvolených povídek s podrobným komentářem překladatelských řešení a zdůvodněním případných významových posunů. V závěru práce bude moje překladatelská metoda konfrontována s metodou a přístupem předchozích překladatelek. Cílem této překladatelské práce je vystihnout specifické rysy překládání povídek A. Carterové do češtiny a na základě zjištěných závěrů poskytnout vlastní překlad vybraných textů. Součástí práce bude příloha obsahující výchozí text překladu.

Abstrakt v anglickém jazyce
The theme of my BA thesis is the question of translating Angela Carter’s short fiction into Czech, including my own translation of two selected short stories. The thesis will be divided into three parts. The first part will provide a detailed analysis of the source texts with attention to lexis, syntax, and stylistics, and a characterization of potential specific problems which will have to be dealt with in the translation. The second part of the thesis will discuss the two already existing Czech translations of A. Carter's collections of short stories – The Bloody Chamber (translated by Dana Hábová) and The Black Venus (translated by Kateřina Hilská). The third part of the thesis will consist of my own translation of the two selected short stories with a detailed commentary concerning the choice of adequate equivalents and explaining any potential shifts in meaning. In the conclusion of the thesis, my translation method will be confronted with the method and approach of the previous translators. The aim of the thesis is to examine the specific features of the process of translating A. Carter's short stories into Czech and to provide a translation of the selected texts, which will be based on the achieved conclusions. The source texts will be attached to the thesis as an appendix.
