| Tato bakalářská práce si klade za úkol analyzovat groteskní prvky v těch vybraných povídkách Joyce Carol Oatesové, v nichž coby základní element a nástroj grotesky slouží kategorie genderu (Kam jdeš, a odkud?, Heat, Haunted, The Premonition a Extenuating Circumstances).
V úvodní části bude definován pojem groteska od jeho počátků - nejprve obecně v západní literární a umělecké tradici, poté v kontextu moderní americké literatury. Dále se autorka zaměří na vybrané definice genderu, přičemž zvláštní pozornost bude věnovat konceptům genderové performativity a prezentace. Tím bude teoretická část uzavřena. Relevantní teoretické poznatky budou poté aplikovány při rozboru vybraných povídek, přičemž důraz bude kladen zejména na motiv genderového násilí. V závislosti na jeho interpretaci pak bude učiněn závěr, jakou plní genderová groteska v díle Joyce Carol Oatesové funkci, a potažmo jaký má hlubší literární i společenský význam. |
