Guidelines

Bakalářská práce bude zkoumat větné modifikátory sloužící jako prostředky textové návaznosti however a instead v anglických odborných textech. Teoretická část popíše tyto adverzativní konektory z různých aspektů: postavení ve větě, interpunkci, sémantiku a dosah. Vzhledem k tomu, že pozice zkoumaných konektorů je poměrně volná, empirická část práce podá přehled možných pozic v rámci věty a četnost jejich zastoupení ve zkoumaném materiálu. Dále bude zkoumána interpunkce (zda je konektor oddělen pomocí čárky, středníku nebo zda interpunkční znaménko zcela chybí) a dosah konektoru (zda je konektor vymezen souvětím, v němž se vyskytuje nebo zda odkazuje na bezprostředně předcházející větu nebo bezprostředně předcházející odstavec). Dílčí výsledky budou následně porovnány a práce se tak mimo jiné pokusí zjistit, zda existuje jistá korelace mezi dosahem konektoru a jeho postavením ve větě. Metodologicky bude práce založena na získání 50 příkladů konektoru „however“ a 50 příkladů konektoru „instead“ získaných pomocí Britského národního korpusu (BNC).
