Guidelines

Práce se bude zabývat sporem mezi Henry A. Wallacem a Trumanovou administrativou, který vyústil ve Wallaceův odchod z Demokratické strany a přiměl jej postavit se proti Harry S. Trumanovi jako kandidát třetí, Progresivní strany v prezidentských volbách roku 1948. Stěžejní třecí plochu mezi oběma muži přitom představovalo Trumanovo postupné přehodnocení Rooseveltova vstřícného postoje vůči Sovětskému svazu.
Cílem práce je analýza postojů H. A. Wallace a Progresivní strany k zahraniční politice Spojených států a jejich významu, ať už z hlediska domácího vývoje ve Spojených státech nebo z hlediska zemí formujícího se východního bloku. Ačkoliv ústředním tématem práce bude Wallaceova účast v prezidentských volbách, pozornost bude věnována i předcházejícímu období, ve kterém je třeba hledat kořeny Wallaceova odporu k zahraničně-politické linii H. S. Trumana, ale i období následujícímu, během něhož H. A. Wallace nakonec své názory na možnost přátelské spolupráce se Sovětským svazem revidoval.
