| Předmětem diplomové práce je dílo malíře Edwarda Hoppera ze čtyřicátých let 20. století ve vztahu k rozsáhlé básni Wystana Hugha Audena The Age of Anxiety. A Barocque Eclogue (1947). Práce sleduje zkoumání intermediálních ko-relací mezi obrazem a textem na příkladu významných děl amerického moderního umění první poloviny 20. století. Přestože těžiště práce spočívá ve čtyřicátých letech, bude pozornost věnována také Hopperovu dílu meziválečného období. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována Hopperovu obrazu The Nighthawks (1942), který je považován za jedno z jeho nejvýznamnějších děl válečných let. Jedinečná pozice toho obrazu bude rekonstruována prostřednictvím intermediálních projekcí a vazeb na Audenovu báseň. |
