Guidelines

Rieka Gódávarí, známa tiež pod názvom Gautamí, je dôležitý posvätný tok, ktorý preteká centrálnou Indiou.
Táto práca sa bude zaoberať jeho popisom, ako je ponúkaný v jednej z mahápurán - Brahmapuráne. Stopäť z jej kapitol tvorí ucelenú stať, ktorá s veľkou pravdepodobnosťou pôvodne súčasťou tejto purány nebola. Nazýva sa Gautamímáhátmja a obsahuje prevažne mýty týkajúce sa pútnych miest, tírth, ktoré sa nachádzajú pozdĺž rieky Gódávarí, ako aj ich viac či menej podrobné opisy.
Dokopy týchto miest vymenúva viac než sto. Niektoré z nich, napríklad Násik, existujú aj v dnešnej dobe, lokalizácia iných je v súčasnosti nejasná.
Cieľom práce má byť hlavne antropologicko-religionistický pohľad na Gódávarí a územie v jej bezprostrednej blízkosti, vychádzajúci prevažne z analýzy textu Gautamímáhatmje, ako aj snaha o bližšiu identifikáciu aspoň niektorých tírth pozdĺž jej toku.
