Guidelines

Ve své práci se zaměřím na způsob, jakým byl Orient, tedy Blízký a Střední východ, reprezentován ve francouzské malbě 19. století a jak dalece a jakým způsobem se z tradičního akademického přístupu k této látce podařilo vystoupit Gustavu Moreauovi. Jeho tvorbu srovnám s akademickým orientalismem, který navazoval na romantickou reprezentaci Orientu a byl v mnoha směrech ovlivněn či podmíněn francouzským kolonialismem. Podrobně se budu věnovat početným dílům Gustava Moreaua obsahujícím orientální motivy a náměty i Moreauovým obecnějším tvůrčím zásadám, které se nutně odrážejí i v jeho malbách s orientálními prvky. Dále načrtnu další vývoj orientálních motivů v rámci symbolismu, který Gustave Moreau svým dílem předznamenává.
