Guidelines
Hlavním cílem autorky bude na základě zkoumání vydaných pramenů a studia odborné literatury jednak obecně prezentovat a zhodnotit aktivity Královské zeměpisné společnosti v Londýně, jednak zhodnotit příspěvek této společnosti v souvislosti s iniciováním a podporou průzkumu vnitrozemí rovníkové Afriky, především velkých středoafrických jezer a hledáním pramenů Nilu. Z cestovatelů, kteří se na tomto průzkumu podíleli, se autorka soustředí především na analýzu průběhu aktivit Richarda Burtona, Johna Hanniga Spekeho, Jamese Augusta Granta, Samuela Bakera a Josepha Thompsona.
