Preliminary scope of work in English
Student should get acquainted with the Monte-Carlo (MC) simulations of proton-proton collisions for processes to be detected with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC collider (CERN), including the analysis tools. Specifically, the student should study the Higgs boson properties measurement in its decay to two τ-leptons, for example by means of exploiting the range of these leptons in the ATLAS detector. Student should also study the ways of calibrating the calorimeter for the τ energy measurement. Apart of the MC studies, student should take part in the analysis of real data from the ATLAS detector.
