Guidelines |

Preliminary scope of work |
The first goal of the bachelor thesis consists in the creation of functional algorithms, and programs based on them (C++/Python), for the simulation and reconstruction of particle trajectories in a time projection chamber made for experiment X17 [1] with the standardly oriented constant electric field (~400 V/cm) but with the, atypically, inhomogeneous magnetic field created by strong permanent magnets (~ 0.3 T), perpendicular to the electric field.
The second and main/critical result of the bachelor thesis consists in the reconstruction of the energies of the primary particles (entering the time projection chamber). The programs or environments for track simulation/reconstruction do not have to be completely original ones, they can use already existing program/parts, e.g. [2,3], but the graduate will have to understand the entire code in detail. The algorithms themselves may or may not use neural networks and/or the Kalman filter [4]. |
