Guidelines
Fiber optic communication hardware requires precise device- and connection-specific calibration in order to operate correctly. The calibration data are obtained from a calibration device, by measuring the tested device and recording responses to varying input signals. Firmware of the calibration devices is often required to work with custom or non-standard measurement devices, drivers and protocols.

The aim of this thesis is to explore this calibration process and produce firmware for CzechLight fiber optic measurement device fixture used at CESNET. The firmware will control the Integrated Tunable Laser Assembly (ITLA) of the measurement device and retrieve data from the Optical Channel Monitor (OCM) and Power Monitor (PM), in order to make their interfaces available for higher-level configuration over NETCONF protocol. The implementation consists of a set of low-level drivers that integrate the low-level device-specific communication with an abstract interface provided by CESNET's internal software.
