Guidelines

Preliminary scope of work in English
In recent years the conductance of single molecule junctions has been measured by a variety of techniques [1,2,3]. From the theoretical point of view, the electronic conductance is difficult to calculate even by ab-initio techniques due to the importance of correlation effects [4]. The problem is usually approached by density-functional theory (DFT). A natural step is to consider corrections to the DFT conductance which are incorporated in the (non-self- consistent) G0W0 approximation. While specific one-shot applications of this methodology to the molecular conductance exist in the literature, systematic studies (analysis of convergence w.r. to the system size, finite-size errors, convergence) are lacking. The aim of the dissertation
is to perform such a systematic study on a set of well-defined physical benchmark systems.
