Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
In the thesis, a novel model characterized in what follows will be derived and carefully described (and, optionally, also implemented, examined by numerical experiments and assessed critically). The water flow in a saturated porous media may lead to inner erosion, channels and preferrential paths formation, and to transport and eventual deposion of the material. One of the many approaches to model such a process is to consider a continuous mixture of three constituents and to describe the time-evolution of the water flux; the erosion and deposition of the matrix material; and the transport of the mobilized material. Such model was delivererd by Mahadevan et al. (2012), which the thesis will be based on. In contrast to the published model just mentioned, the thesis will consider an anisotropic permeability, modelling that way a media with many (vertical) fractures in given preferrential directions. The almost horizontal flow with the free surface will be considered, allowing to use Dupuit-Forchheimer approximation. Optionally, a numerical model would be implemented using the FEniCS package. |
