Guidelines
The DEECo component model is designed for modeling and development of highly dynamic systems of autonomous components. It features concepts of autonomic component ensembles, which make possible for automated discovery and ad-hoc composition based on locality. This creates promising foundation for design and implementation of the novel concept of cloudlets, which decentralizes cloud data-centres by bringing computers close to the mobile user (e.g. by deploying cloud servers at WiFi or 3G providers).

The goal of this thesis is to provide an exploratory study of the architectural and runtime options of using DEECo as a control layer for design and implementation of cloudlets on Android-based devices. The thesis should discuss the suitability of DEECo and identify benefits and problems. As a part of the thesis, the Java implementation of DEECo should be ported to Android. Further, a demonstrator is to be developed, which shows componentization of a sample Android application and its offloading and balancing in a cloudlet-like environment managed by DEECo.
