Guidelines
Various types of quantum turbulence will be induced in pipes of square cross sections either thermally or by squeezing a stainless steel bellows system driven by a computer controlled external linear motor and detected by the second sound attenuation technique based on flat transducers made of gold-plated nuclepore membranes mounted in the walls of the channel that acts as a second sound resonator. Critical conditions for generation of quantized vorticity, characteristics of developed turbulent steady state and temporal decay of quantum turbulence will be investigated. Obtained experimental results will be compared with numerical models developed in collaboration with the University of Newcastle, UK (professor C. F. Barenghi).
