Preliminary scope of work |
Charakter energetických stavů 5f elektronů uranu v intermetalikách má za následek značnou citlivost výskytu kooperativních jevů, magnetismu a supravodivosti, na změny “chemického” okolí iontů U, teploty, vnějšího magnetického pole a vnějšího tlaku. V případě vzniku/zániku magnetismu nacházíme v nízkých teplotách (T 0 K) kvantově kritické chování vedoucí k výskytu nekonvenční supravodivosti a dalších exotických jevů. Příprava a charatakterizace monokrystalů a měření makroskopických vlastností budou prováděna v Laboratořích magnetismu a nízkých teplot (http://lmnt.cz/). Mikroskopické experimenty budou realizovány v ILL a ESRF Grenoble, případně v dalších neutronových a synchrotronových laboratořích. |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
Character of the energy levels of 5f electrons in uranium intermetallics results in considerable sensitivity of cooperative phenomena, magnetism and superconductivity, to the changes "chemical" neighborhood of U ions, temperature, external magnetic field and external pressure. In the case of emerging/disappearing magnetism at low temperatures (T 0 K) quantum critical behavior is observed leading to the occurrence of unconventional superconductivity and other exotic phenomena. The work will include the preparation and characterization of high quality single crystals of selected materials, in which the above phenomena are expected. The single crystals will be subjected to measurements of transport, magnetic, elastic and thermal properties. The choice of materials will be based on research in the first stage of study. Preparation and charatakterization of single crystals, and measurements of macroscopic properties will be carried out in the Magnetism and Low Temperature Laboratories (http://mltl.eu/). Microscopic experiments will be carried out in ILL and ESRF Grenoble, or in other neutron and synchrotron laboratories. |
