Preliminary scope of work

Kapitál představuje jeden z klíčových konceptů ekonomické teorie. Jako jeden ze tří výrobních faktorů je vstupem pro produkční funkci. V moderních teoriích růstu vnímáme kapitál jako důležitý faktor pro ekonomický růst. Můžeme se ptát, proč a jak kapitál přispívá k tvorbě bohatství. Od počátků ekonomické vědy bylo vyvinuto několik různých přístupů ke kapitálu. Pomocí komparativní analýzy budu porovnávat práce několika známých ekonomů, kteří přispěli do teorie kapitálu. Budu se soustředit na základní otázky a koncepty spojené s kapitálem: jeho definici, trh kapitálu, jeho cenu a případně také dynamické aspekty teorie kapitálu. Moje práce by měla ukázat postupný vývoj znalostí o těchto pojmech. Výsledkem by měl být souhrn jasných poznatků a seznam otázek, které zůstavají otevřené dodnes.

Preliminary scope of work in English

Capital presents one of the key concepts in economic theory. As one of the three basic factors of production, it appears in the production function. In modern growth theories, capital is sometimes perceived as the only source of economic growth. This raises the question why and how capital contributes to wealth creation. Since the beginnings of rigorous economic science, several different approaches to capital were developed.
I will use comparative analysis of the works of main economists who contributed to the theory of capital. I will focus on the basic ideas which relate to capital: its definition, the market for capital, its price and eventually also its dynamics. By showing the development of knowledge on these terms, my thesis will naturally incorporate a summary of clarified issues and of questions that still remain open or are being intensively discussed.
