Preliminary scope of work

Zamýšlená diplomová práce se pokusí odhalit realitu Balkánského prostoru jako hřiště mezi Evropskou unií a Ruskou federací. Balkán byl dlouhodobě oblastí, kde se střetávaly zájmy evropských mocností. V období, kdy státy střední a východní Evropy zahájily návrat do Evropy v podobě integrace do euro-atlantických struktur, vybrané nástupnické země bývalé Jugoslávie se ocitly v etnickém konfliktu, který přináší důsledky i do dnešních dní. Po mírovém urovnání se Evropská unie snaží aktivně angažovat svými politickými nástroji. V roce 2000 byl dokonce založen Stabilizační a asociační proces s cílem rovněž integrovat západobalkánské země do EU. Na druhé straně můžeme ovšem spatřovat ekonomické zájmy Ruska, které jsou v posledních letech stále více patrné. S ohledem na globální charakter Evropské unie, Ruska a také na strategickou polohu Balkánu budou v práci zahrnuty geopolitické a geoekonomické parametry zkoumané reality.

Preliminary scope of work in English

Intended diploma thesis will try to reveal the reality of the Balkans region as a ground between the European Union and the Russian Federation. Balkans was historically the area, where interest of European powers met. At the time, when Central and Eastern European countries started their way back to Europe in the framework of integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures, particular post-Yugoslavian countries just stood in the ethnical conflict, which brings consequences until now. After the peace reconciliation the European Union is actively engaged with its political tools. In 2000, was even established Stabilization and association process with specific aim to integrate the Western Balkans countries to the EU as well. On the other hand, we can see economic interests of Russia, which are even more visible within last couple of years. Regarding the global character of the European Union, Russia, and the strategic position of the Balkans there will be examined also geopolitical and geoeconomic parameters of studied reality.
